Media and Information Literacy

As an instructional designer, media and information literacy is a top priority to me. Everything I create has the highest standards of accuracy and ethics. Information literacy is the ability to find information, evaluate the validity and usefulness of the information, and apply the information to one's circumstances. New media literacy is understanding the techniques used by mass media and how those techniques are used to effect change (Jamil et al., 2022).

Most information gathered today is through new media. Therefore, it is critical that the learner understands the techniques used by media to accurately evaluate the information being presented by that media. Both media and information literacy require the learner to actively participate in the learning. They must evaluate the source and the validity of the information.
