Mobile Technologies Implementation Plan

Teachers wear many different hats. They are in charge of creating engaging lessons, delivering the lessons, communicating with parents, completing paperwork, and managing student behaviors. The latter is becoming more difficult as the number of students with mental illnesses, trauma, and autism continues to rise. Teachers need a way of asking for help for their students that is quick, effective, and discreet. The following plan outlines the use of the Remind app for Bath Elementary School to address this issue.

Problem

As students are learning to manage and understand their emotions, they can become very overwhelmed. Some students have never been exposed to structured learning and expectations, some have sensory needs or a neurological diagnosis, and some have experienced trauma which can make their reactions to simple requests or consequences explosive. Teachers often need extra help to support their struggling students and instruct the remaining students (St. John et al, 2022). They also tend to need help during transitions in the hallways or bathroom areas where there are not any phones available to call for help. Seeing a teacher call the office can also escalate students who are on the verge of a meltdown. The school needs a way to communicate that is mobile, quick, and discreet.

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of this plan is to provide the school staff with a way to quickly and easily communicate with each other so that they can provide the best support possible for their students. There are two goals of this plan. The first goal is that teachers will have access to assistance at any point in the day no matter where they are on the campus. The second goal is that the school staff will reduce the number of meltdowns by 50% by requesting assistance for students before they meltdown.
